It’s hard to find the perfect scenario for comparing apples to Apples, and yet, we have found one. Apple, Inc. is one of the largest businesses in the world. This manufacturer of once obscure but not highly desired tech goodies like the iPod, iPad, and iPhone was founded back in the 1970s when Steve Wozniak built the first compact or “personal computer.” For the first time, computation power was literally at peoples’ fingertips. Before, computers were housed in huge contained spaces and required several operators to complete even the most rudimentary tasks. Under the guidance of Steve Jobs, the charismatic visionary who convinced Wozniak that a computer could be small and manageable, Apple Computer Co. began its slow climb to the success it enjoys today. As for the fruit after which the company was named, let’s talk apples.

Apples are apples. They’re fruit. Before their cultivation, they were bitter and vile and full of seeds and no one wanted to eat them, but look where they are today! Apples find their way into lunchboxes all over the world every day. They are made into delectable juice and sweet apple sauce. They are nutritious too, packing a lot of vitamins into a small amount of space. On the other hand, they were voted the “dirtiest” fruit last year, largely due to the pesticides commonly used in farming them.

Here is an infographic that compares Apples to apples:

In a small business there are still quite a few positions to be filled. Whether or not you hire an individual for each responsibility or you have people taking on more than one role, your business cannot effectively run with just an administrative employee or just a sales person. You need different roles filled to handle different tasks. Were you aware that a social media expert is the second most wanted job position to be filled in small businesses today? The front runner is a bookkeeper, but right behind it is the social media guru.

That just goes to show you that small businesses are realizing the demand for a serious social media presence in the online world. What does a social media presence do for small businesses? Well, for starters it can introduce your brand to new potential customers. That alone can help in increasing revenues. Another benefit to small business social media is the ability to connect with current clients and customers to ensure satisfaction and resolution for unsatisfactory experiences.

So if you have not given your small business the upper hand and established a social media standing, what are you waiting for? Your small business is waiting.

I live in a small town. There are larger towns not too far away, but I have all I need and more right here. Unfortunately, the economy is not being too kind to small towns. Cuts are being made at local levels and it has been obvious. Many town’s small businesses have been forced to close their doors due to the fact that people were afraid to spend money and have chosen to go to big superstores where the prices are a bit cheaper. As of recent though I have noticed a shift, and I see that local restaurants and businesses are improving just a bit in my area. Could this be the case all over the country? Initiatives that promote buying local goods and services are helping in more ways that we might think.

My town is not the only one that is trying to increase local buying from citizens, I have seen quite a bit of this. What does buying local really help? Well, first of all it helps the small businesses in your area. When small businesses succeed, you have more options, a better quality of goods, the local economy gets a boost, and a lot of small businesses choose to put their money right back into the community.

So if you are a small business owner in a fairly small community, make sure that the residents of the area know that you are all about providing them with the best goods and services imaginable. Your prices might not beat out huge superstores with most of their goods coming in from China, but your products offered are of higher quality and held to a higher standard.

Small businesses can succeed at this time, it just takes a little willpower and the help from local residents.

Everyone enjoys reading the occasional story of the latest tech start-up and its enigmatic but persuasive founders. Tech start-ups have been a steady supplier of businotainment since the golden age of the Silicon Valley dawned several decades ago. Recently on satellite television from videoed, the story of Apple, in a sort of tribute to its late co-founder Steve Jobs, aired the special iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World, and millions tuned in. More recently, younger upstarts like Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and DropBox’s Drew Houston have inspired that same breed of fascination, compelling people in the business sector and well outside of it to find out all they can about these geniuses who turn a little nothing into a great, big, beautiful something, typically before the age of 25 years.

The following is an infographic on the state of the typical tech startup in contemporary times. It attempts to dissect the essential parts of a tech startup in order to examine what makes it work, and how highly charismatic leadership plays a role in how everything pans out.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, has been said to be the key to maximizing readers for articles as well as web content. The search engines pick up on the keywords used, in the correct proportion, and rank them for showing when the keywords are used in a search. How exciting, right? Human beings are the ones who end up reading the content or articles that a program has chosen for them based on what they are looking for, but how often are the search results relevant to what you are really trying to find?

Use keywords and SEO strategies, by all means, but use them correctly. It isn’t enough to stuff the words in and hope for results. You have to give good content or the visitors will leave your site in droves. Not the plan, is it? When building web pages and submitting articles to promote your business, keep in mind that search engines rank, but people will read. When the information is good, more will click on it, and this increases your rank as well. The little bots that run the engines note how many click on your content, and how many hit the back button. So keep in mind while writing for the web, the back button is the enemy, and the bots can be your friend.
Use keywords and quality content to get your readers to click your other links, either pages that go into more detail or, best case, a link that will earn for you. Information is what humans are searching for, the engines help them find it, if your site can provide it, they will find you. Simply putting up a website and waiting will not bring traffic. In order for customers to beat a path to your virtual door, you need to place markers on the route. Keywords are the markers, and once they are used correctly, the path will be made clear. Without keywords and SEO it ends up like the old joke, you can’t get there from here.

Building an online business, like topple track, will take work and time, despite what some advertisers will have you believe. In order to grow, you will have to please both search engines and humans, in equal measure. Not a task for the get rich quick mind set, since there is actual work involved. Luck may play a part in your success, in the form of hitting a keyword that has a huge surge for whatever reason, but that is a one in a million shot. Better odds for success come from planning and following through.
Put yourself in the reader’s position, and ask yourself, what would I want from this web site or article? Deliver it, twofold, and the readers will become visitors, who will in turn become customers. These customers will tell others if they like what your site is doing, which will also raise your search engine ranking, so be sure what you are giving is valuable to humans, and the bots will take notice.

Make Customers Loyal to Your Business With Social Media

It does not matter what industry category that your business falls into, you always want more customers. Regardless of what your business does, more customers means more sales, and more sales means more revenue, and more revenue is something that all businesses can use. That is one of the primary reasons why many businesses chose to start utilizing social media. Businesses want to use their social media efforts in order to attract additional customers. Customers that have yet to do business are the ones that many people are looking to gain on social media sites, but are these businesses missing out? What about the customers that have been around for a while? Those customers who come to you for all of their waxing needs, or accounting needs, or whatever it is that your business does? Are you reaching out to the right customers. Sure, it is very important to acquire new customers and appeal to them, but your loyal customers need some good loving too, so don’t forget about them!

So, why reach out to the customers that already do business with you?

They already know your business and like it, so they are more ready to hear what you have to say. They are also more eager to keep up with all the things that you are doing in your business. You are like a friend that they want to hear from and keep in touch with.

Loyal customers will be able to promote and endorse you and your business through social media. Your loyal customers are far more likely to get involved in your posts and share. This mean more endorsements and advertising without shelling out more money. This is a great way to get the word out about your business.

How should you reach out to these loyal customers?

Discounts! There is nothing better than receiving a discount because you are a loyal customer. Let your customers prove that they love your business by offering discounts and promotions to them through your social media outlets. Deals of the week for fans and followers on your social media pages are not only fun, but also encourage more business.

Get Customers Involved! When you are physically with your customers ask them to get involved and ‘Like’ items on your Facebook, or re-tweet your posts on twitter. They will feel like you value their help, and you will have easy marketing. Also, ask your loyal customers for their opinions. Find out if your business is doing its best.

Show your appreciation! Thank your customers. If it is appropriate, you can even thank them buy name. People appreciate being appreciated.

Part 1 of the Office Etiquette feature listed some Do’s and Don’ts for the office place setting. These are some rules that certainly apply to everyone in any office setting. In Part 2, you will find even more Do’s and Don’ts that need to be considered for when you are at work. It’s just plain polite. So here you go, more rules for the workplace.

Don’t burp or fart – The thing is, you are in a public place. While you are in your home you may be disgusting enough to let out bodily noises all around, but your co-workers definitely do not want to hear you, or even worse, but we won’t go there. If you feel the need to do either, then step into the restroom or even go outside away from anyone. Just be thoughtful.

Do dress respectively – If you feel like you don’t get the respect you deserve and you cannot figure out why, it just might be you attire. Did you ever think of that? The office place is not a place to wear shorts, or tennis shoes, or flip flops, and it does not matter how casual the environment is. You should want to dress like you actually work outside of your home, not like a bum who can’t find a job.

Don’t groom yourself – One of the weirdest, and frankly, grossest sounds is someone clipping their nails. This is true especially in a quiet office. Your desk is not a manicure station. It is also not a salon or bathroom. It is very inappropriate to brush your hair or style it while sitting at your desk. Flossing is also a huge no-no. If you really feel the need to fix your hair, floss your teeth, or groom while you are working, then go to the bathroom.

Do keep your area clean – If your desk or cubicle is a cluttered mess, what do you think that says about you and your work ethic? While you may be an excellent and hard worker, your desk may not reflect that if it is a disaster. Take a couple minutes at the end of each day to straighten up your area. Not only will it look more organized, but you will actually become more organized in turn, and those who have to see your space each day will probably be appreciative too. Also, don’t be distracting and search for stuff like “cable tv” on your work computer. You’re at work, not at home.

If you go to an office every day for work, then it would surely benefit you to follow these simple guidelines. Some of you may think all of these things are common knowledge, but there are some real horror stories out there. Be kind and courteous while at work, and don’t forget your office etiquette.

When you work in an office setting, it is sometimes easy to forget that you are not the only person around, and you may even get a little too comfortable. Please remember that at your office, you must take into consideration that there are many many that you have to see, talk to, and deal with on a regular and daily basis. Rules of the real world apply to any office setting, but so often those rules are thrown out the window. Make sure that you understand the do’s and don’ts of office etiquette. cable bundles

Do bathe regularly–This seems like a no brainer, but I have seen, or smelled rather, that this is not the case. Nobody wants to smell eau de __________ (put your name here). It’s gross. Scratch that it is even worse than gross if you come into work smelling like you just ran a marathon in 100 degree weather. Think about your co-workers. Please. This also goes for wearing deodorant. Put it on, okay? If you are a hippie who feels like deodorant is the man’s way of holding you down or whatever you think, so be it, but I will literally hold you down and put it on for you as opposed to smelling your pits all day.

Don’t be a loud cell phone user–Here’s the deal, I’m not a huge fan of a cell phone anyway, aside from texting. I don’t talk on my phone inside the office, so you shouldn’t either. First of all, I do not want to here your loud customized ringtone going off, and I don’t care who you are, it’s unprofessional. And it usually doesn’t stop there, those with their phones turned all the way up are usually the one’s to stop talking to you mid sentence without an “excuse me” to take the phone call, most likely a personal phone call at that! Rude and narcissistic! Go outside if it is important, because I truly don’t care what you plan on having for dinner tonight or if your baby said its first words.

Do cordially greet co-workers in the morning–I’m not talking about stopping everything your doing and chatting, but a nice “Good morning!” can get your day started off right, and you may just perk up the person you’re talking to. So when you come into the office in the morning, even if you aren’t a morning person, greet the people you run into.

Don’t cry in front of everyone–Some days we’re happy, and some days we’re sad, that’s fine, but don’t bring it into the office if you’re in a bad mood. Seriously, leave all emotional baggage at the door, even if you work with your best friend, remember there is a time for work and a time for you to complain and be negative about your life. Those times do not intertwine. Be smart and keep in mind no one cares about your crap nearly as much as you do, so keep it all to yourself.

Big businesses in America generally do well because they advertise their products and services widely and are able to reach a large portion of their target market. A good reason that they are able to achieve this is because they have enough resource to undertake marketing campaigns and advertising programs. These resources are largely in the form of finances but also in part to highly qualified executives who have good knowledge in matters of advertising and marketing. Thus billboards, TV advertising, magazine and even online advertising will feature products and services that are beautifully advertised and strategically target a desired market niche.

On the other hand, small business across America largely remain in the background because they lack resources, both financial as well as manpower, to advertise and market their products sufficiently and widely enough so as to reach a significant portion of the market. This fact ensures that small businesses remain in the background with modest incomes and minimal growth and expansion opportunities.

Modern technology however, is amazing. There are current and easy to use techniques that small businesses can adopt so as to put themselves and their products and services on the global arena and attract a wide customer base and also open up to a global market. Several online businesses use online forms
to collect customer leads and data. The best way to approach this is by creating and designing a suitable website. By contacting web design companies, a small business can have a website designed and uploaded on to the internet in a fast and professional way. The website should be professionally designed and beautifully presented so as to attract attention of the millions of internet users across the world. A good website should also articulate the products and services offered by the small business and how these can be obtained. There should be a process by which interested customers can place an order and purchase any services or goods they desire as well as internationally accepted forms of payment. A good website should also provide the small business’ contact information, location and address. This is good for customers to enhance trust and exhibit professionalism.

A website, on its own, is not sufficient. This is because the World Wide Web has millions upon millions of websites. To get customers and visitors to view a business can be a tricky affair. Not any more. There are certain clever strategies that can ensure that a website is viewed easily and by a large number of potential customers. One is by what is referred to as search engine optimization techniques or SEO techniques. The millions of internet users usually use a search engine, such as Google or Yahoo! to search for products and services on the internet. By strategically positioning a small business website on the internet it can attract a lot of online traffic. This is achieved by optimizing the content of the website to give it prominence on internet searches. Optimization requires the use of certain keywords that may be contained on an online search. When these keywords are contained in the text of a website, it will provide the website with a higher ranking on the results list of an online search.

So, you want to go into business. What type of business were you thinking of? Perhaps, you weren’t thinking of the type of business but the money that you think business can make for you. That is where most people stop when they start thinking about starting a business. They begin to make what are called “pipe dreams” and never start their business. Making money is the end result of starting a business. If you are thinking about starting a business, you need the initial impetus of what type of business do you want answered. piracy protection Once you have started thinking about what type of business you want, you can make your first list either physical or mental.
How do you make a list of what type of business do you want. You may want a business that makes Fiats. You can put that down on your list. And, you will be making pipe dream lists until you are ready to buy burial insurance. Your lists of what type of business do you want should be connected directly to what type of business have you worked at, what type of business can you perform mentally, step by step. Your lists of concrete types of businesses that you can do will start your first push or impetus into starting your own business. And example is always appreciative by those who are seriously contemplating starting a business. Your dad was making money by building backyard barbecues for people. You were around when he was building those barbecues. You heard him on the phone or in person talking about supplies, talking to suppliers, making contacts with paying customers, using the money that he got to pay bills and putting money in the bank when completing a job.
Those are mental pictures that are really a part of your mind as well. Your list of types of businesses can be backyard remodelling, prefabricated backyard barbecues, backyard barbecue kits. You can decide for yourself what should be in your list of types of businesses to start that you can do. Once your lists includes those types of businesses that are realistically within your line of experience, you will move on to you next step which is planning on your product line or sending out feelers for jobs in your type of business. If you are successful at this step, your business will begin to have a separate existence of its own. Your jobs will produce income. That income will have to be documented for governmental reasons. That documenting will move you into another step of business, accounting and maybe lawyers. Your income will make it possible for you to have contacts with suppliers who can make new jobs open to you. Your income from your jobs will move you into another area known as a business owner.

As your job orders grow, your business income will also grow. You will then move into an area of social functioning because of your contacts with the people who are connected with the type of work that you do, with people that you employ, with customers who use your products or services, and with other business owners in similar and not so similar ways.
